Corporate Strategic Plan - 2009

On Monday November 16, 2009, Town Council approved their four year Corporate Strategic Plan.  As Council moves forward with implementing the Corporate Strategic Plan it is important to understand the implementation process and the role of a strategic plan within the organization.

Council is adopting an intended direction, they are not approving a budget for each item in a Strategic Plan or committing to delivering each item when the plan is approved.  The Strategic Plan is used as the foundation for yearly budgeting. While high level directions set by the Strategic Plan shouldn’t change over its four year life unless circumstances drastically alter, specific tasks to be accomplished each year are prioritized / identified each year and approved by Council on a yearly basis through the budget process. Staff, Committees of Council, business and the public may have input on priorities on a yearly basis. To view Council's Corporate Strategic Plan please click on the link below.

During the process of preparing Council's Corporate Strategic Plan the public was consulted and given the opportunity to provide feedback.

Based on the public input two amendments were made to Goal 1 to incorporate a public transportation component and excellence in education.

• GOAL 1:  ENRICH OUR COMMUNITY
Sub-Goal #3:  Enhance the environment of our town
(Addition) Objective #3:  Develop a transportation strategy for the Town of Wolfville, which includes a public transit component that will integrate with a provincial public transit strategy.

• GOAL 1:  ENRICH OUR COMMUNITY
(Addition) Sub-Goal #5:  Enhance the educational excellence of our town
Objective #1:  Develop a strategy to promote the educational excellence of the Town by, but not limited to engagement and promotion of educational opportunities with Acadia University, Wolfville School, and Landmark East.

Much of the input received through the public consultation process was at the action level  Therefore, these suggestions will be considered when Town Staff create action plans and operationalize the corporate strategic plan.
