EnerGuide for New Houses Program now mandatory in Wolfville

On September 23, 2008, Council approved a new Municipal Planning Strategy and Land Use By-Law. These new planning regulations will require all new houses built in Wolfville to participate in the EnerGuide for New Houses Program that is administered by the Nova Scotia Home Builders Association.

This program includes an energy analysis of the proposed home based on the house plans and recommendations for ways to improve energy efficiency. There is a $250+HST cost to participate. This amount and more may be refunded if the home meets an EnerGuide rating of 80 or more. However, the real payback for home owners is energy savings year after year.
