 Parking Ticket Changes

As of Thursday, October 1, 2009 the Town of Wolfville has implemented new Parking-Infraction Ticket guidelines as outlined in the “Summary Offence Ticket Regulations” for the Province of Nova Scotia. 

These regulations mean a change to the fine cost and payment procedure.  However, these new regulations will bring more efficiency to the process and ensure that the Town collects all unpaid tickets, which has been problematic in the past. 

Summary of New Regulations:

• The Summary Offence Ticket Regulations and fine schedule (Schedule PT) can be viewed at http://www.gov.ns.ca/just/regulations/regs/spticket.htm.

• A notice of a Parking-Infraction Ticket will be sent to the last known name and address as indicated in the records of the Registrar of Motor Vehicles if the ticket is not paid within 30 days.  (Currently, notices are not sent until the 60th day.)

o If you pay the amount of $25.00 prior to the expiry of the first 60 days after the date of the offence, you do not have to appear in court on the date, time and place indicated above. Payments in this case must be made by either mail, online or in person at: Town Hall, 359 Main Street, Wolfville, NS B4P 1A1.

o If you pay the amount of $57.00after the expiry of Option #1 but prior to the date of appearance before the  presiding judge you do not have to appear on the court date, time, and place indicated on the above notice. Payments must be made by either mail or in person at: Any Provincial Court or on the Kentville Justice Center, Court Administration Office, 87 Cornwallis Street, Kentville, NS B4N 2E5

IMPORTANT: Failure to attend court (if payment has not been made) will result in an automatic conviction and Registry of Motor Vehicles being advised, which will result in you having to pay all outstanding fines before renewing you license and/or vehicle registration.
