Annapolis Valley Mountain Bike Association
We are a group of dedicated volunteers working to build and maintain sustainable trails in the Annapolis Valley and act as a positive voice for Mountain Biking. Visit us at http://www.avmba.com/
Centennial Cycling Club
Our membership/ridership is made of an interesting collection of individuals from all walks of life, certainly all food groups are represented, and we have our share of eccentrics but they are highly prized and everyone subscribes to our club philosophy. Normally introductory or captive members are quickly brain washed to our club ethos by a contradictory process of intense sensitization and a general laissez faire attitude. The sensitization is to food. Our club motto Sodalitas rotivectorum sese aegre vehentium “The Eating Club with a Cycling Disorder” is richly deserved and anyone traveling with us for any period of time will enjoy eating at quaint and interesting eating establishments, often some of the best kept culinary secrets in the country. The laissez faire attitude generally covers everything else. We do have structure but it is so surreptitious as to go largely unnoticed. We have no fees, keep no compilations of ks and trust in each other to maintain our club and personal well-being.
Club rides at the beginning of the year will be 30 – 40 ks, expanding to typically 60 – 80k rides throughout most of the season with occasional 100-120 k rides here and there where destinations merit. The pace is a moderate 20 – 24k average unless we are blessed with a tail wind, and there are a number of stops to collect lagging or distracted riders, snack, swim, converse, and generally enjoy the day and each other’s company. No one, unless they are very determined or very devious, is left behind.
If you are thinking of joining us consider it an all day affair whatever the ride distance. We are fair weather cyclists who tend to expand the ride to fit the day rather than fit the ride into an otherwise organized day. Give yourself up to the experience and relax, relax, relax. You will be in good company.
You are all invited to participate in our rides to see us up close and personal. Rides take place Saturdays at 10:00 AM from various locations usually throughout the beautiful Annapolis Valley, justifiably considered one of the finest places to cycle in North America. Check our schedule at www.cyclecanada.ca (http://www.cyclecanada.com/Centcc/Cycshed.htm) for particulars, or contact our scribe at
