Call for Volunteers - Western Regional Housing Authority

Are you looking for a volunteer opportunity to make a difference in Wolfville?  This is a Great Opportunity to be involved!

Why not think about serving as a member of the following Committee:

  • Western Regional Housing Authority (One appointment)
    • Purpose:  To oversee the management of public housing with respect to Applicant/Tenant matters in accordance with practice and procedures established by the Minister
    • Functions:
      • To review where appropriate,
      • approve applications of applicants
      • to respond to tenant-related matters
      • approve tenant transfer
      • Issue notice to Quit, and
      • Act in an advisory capacity to the Department on issues relating to public housing policy both of a local and provincial in nature
    • Skills Required - demonstrate the ability to be impartial, fair, objective and courteous when dealing with applicants and tenant-related issues
    • Term of Appointment - no limitation on the term of appointment is set out in the Act; however, pursuant to Departmental Policy, board members must 'sit out' a term after having served two consecurtive three-year terms
    • Anticipated Time Commitments - Full Board meets annually.  Standing Committees in Middleton/New Minas and Bridgewater meet every two months
