The Department of Community Development aims to provide and support projects that contribute to cultural, recreational, tourism and business development; as well as provide outstanding service to visitors, businesses and residents in Wolfville.
To accomplish our objectives, the Department is organized into four areas of focus:
- Economic Development: The Manager of the department works closely with the Chief Administrative Officer and partner organizations such as the Wolfville Business Development Corporation, Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, and Nova Scotia Department of Economic & Rural Development and Tourism to support economic development, business attraction and promotion of Wolfville.
- Tourism: Identifies tourism opportunities that promote and attract visitors to Wolfville and operates the Visitor Information Centre.
- Festivals & Events: Working with a wide range of community-based cultural organizations, department staff provide director (event coordinator) and indirect (grant funding) support for festivals and events that occur in Wolfville and/or have a positive impact for the residents and businesses of Wolfville.
