Public Awareness and Support are Critical elements in Emergency Planning.  

The most immediate help after a disaster is from people nearby when the event occurs.  That means it is your work colleagues, neighbours, friends, family and members of the community who are the ones who will be giving or needing help.

Are you interested in helping your community and playing a critical role during major events, emergencies and disasters?  Join the Town of Wolfville’s Emergency Volunteer Group and show you care for our Town and region.  

As a volunteer, you will

  • Work with the public
  • Prepare for and respond to emergencies
  • Provide leadership
  • Provide essential services at a Comfort/Reception Centre during an emergency or disaster

Qualifications:

The Wolfville Emergency Volunteer Group welcomes your application if you:

  • Live or work in the Town of Wolfville
  • Are over 18 years of age
  • Speak English fluently
  • Have good communication skills
  • Enjoy helping people
  • Work well in a team environment
  • Are in good health

Commitment:

  • At the time of a real event, you would make the decision to assist or not to assist, and decide the amount of time that you could give.

Training Opportunity:

  • The Incident Command System (ICS)-Level 100 training will be provided for all volunteers (free online training)
